Captured Moments had the privilege to work with a most gracious bride Andrea and her groom Zachary on October 8, 2011. They were married at Mandalay Bay-Valley of the Falls. This provided an amazing backdrop for a couple that didn’t mind having a little fun. We loved working with this bride and groom! We could be partial, as the couple is from Michigan, and that is where we call home. Then it could be the amazing time we had getting to know the close knit family that flew in to support the bride and groom on their wedding day. All we know is couldn’t wait to look at the body of work. We hope you enjoy just a few of the highlights from this spectacular wedding day.

The date: 11-11-11 The place: Downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street The Couple: Michelle and James. The Story: After a wedding ceremony at the Las Vegas Sign,the bride and groom, began to celebrate their union. They chose a date that won’t be rolling around for another 100 years. Wow!! What else can I say? I had the awesome privilege to be a part of Munirah & Stacey’s wedding day in sunny Jamaica! The love they share is undeniable and was a pleasure to record. It was also beautiful to see the intimacy among friends and family that joined them to cheer their union. The happy couple clearly were loved and supported. Especially notable was the speech of a child, wise beyond her 9 years. Using emphatic gestures, she reminded the couple that they “started this”…….Yes! Munirah and Stacey, you started something alright. The beginning of the rest of your lives! I could go on and on but let the highlights speak for themselves. Enjoy!!!!

Elizabeth and Michael Paul

We had a blast with Elizabeth and Michael Paul, a couple who clearly love each other and the idea of having fun. The groom possessed the warmth and charm of a southern gentleman, while the stunningly gorgeous bride led the charge for an action packed celebration. More than once, Elizabeth spontaneously broke out in dance during the bachelor and bachelorette party!

These two seem to make a perfect pair. Like well synchronized dancers, Michael Paul and Elizabeth moved around, accommodating the many family members and friends that flew to Vegas to join the festivities. They even stopped to share the spotlight with a niece who was born on what is now their wedding anniversary. Then there were moments of them quietly exchanging a few words, or an inside joke. These were tender reminders of what the real celebration was about. Two people, in a crazy world that found sanity and safety in each other. We got a most touching shot of Elizabeth stopping to gently clear away what may have been a crumb from Micheal Paul’s mouth while at dinner. Later on he was seen returning the favor. Seems like a small thing, yes, but isn’t it the small things that silently communicate you are safe with me?

Santa Monica

I didn’t sleep for 24hrs on 5/13/11…….Why would I do that you ask? Well, I took a group of young photographers to California (Santa Monica to be exact) to photograph the pier and try out their skills at night photography. We road in a bus that left Las Vegas at 4:00 a.m. and returned the next day at 5:00 a.m. Not much time to sleep!!! Here is my group!!!

I havent received their images yet but I will post them shortly…………… In the meantime here are a few shots I was able to take enjoy!!

"Beauty at Red Rock Canyon"

Captured Moments officially launched it’s senior portrait division with an amazing photo shoot at Red Rock Canyon! The beautiful senior was the center of attention, even oncoming traffic slowed to see who the star was. As usual, Eric and I worked as a team and were able to collaborate with our senior to produce some fabulous results. Savvy and well prepared, our senior had an idea of what she wanted and it felt great to use those ideas as a starting point to supersede her expectations. I can’t say how good it felt for this senior to look at her image and see the beauty that we saw. When she replied, “Is that me?” It felt like mission accomplished. Yes, you are that beautiful, yes that is you!!! Congratulations to the class of 2011……

“The Power of Passion Tour”

Sandy Puc (Sandypuc.com) and Jerry Ghionis (Jerryghionis.com) gave an outstanding workshop in Las Vegas!!!! It was the kind of presentation that left you wanting a rewind button to get an instant replay! My wife and I were motivated by the material and presentation to say the least. (Yes, there were tears shed!) Of course, there was the “do this” element to the evening, of which we found insightful, but we found most stirring the “feel this” part of the evening. Stirred and shaken is putting it mildly. As a couple, we have always shot with our hearts, but this workshop provided a resonating reminder as to why it’s essential. The power of passion tour is a reminder to us that our motivation must continue to be heartfelt if it is to truly count for anything. I’d recommend this dynamic duo to photographers at all levels. It underscores that it’s not all about what we know as much it is about how much we love. My wife thought the tour was how to ignite passion between the bride and groom. Nope, something much more basic was addressed, the passion within us. Passion is like most emotions, it’s contagious. The bride and groom are bound to join in on the fun! It’s their day, their party, why wouldn’t they be excited to have a photographer that shot knowing the value and power of shooting with the right motive?

“Wish I was here”

Wow! I just finished teaching a photo class…. now im relaxing a bit listening to the ideas of my students as they disperse to their homes….(Cant blame those who linger,I love photography to ) but I wish I was back in this photo that my wife took of me. We were sitting on a private beach in mexico………….

Well today is a very interesting day. I boarded a plane at 6:30 a.m., following the yellow brick road as it were, to receive an award for mentoring and teaching students the art of photography. It’s a big deal. One of my “students” has out of about 165,000 entries, received a gold medal for his achievement in photography! (pictures to follow on a plane now) I receive an award for giving him the tools to pull that feat off! The awards ceremony is being held in New York at Carnegie Hall!! Must say im pretty stoked! Well plane is landing more dribble and photos to follow until then……..of to see the wizard.

“Great Loss”

Loss…… How can we define this word? It means so much to so many different people. Of course we can go with the obvious theme of the last year, ECONOMICS, but I have to define it as something else today. We have lost, even if for a moment, some very close friends. They have moved away to Africa and my wife and I won’t see them for a while. We will miss them and all the things we did together. My wife and I are glad we had the opportunity to get to hang out with such an awesome couple. We plan see to visit them in Ethiopia and look forward to taking some great shots while in Africa. Of course, Troy and I, with the rest of the gang, will be doing the”wild hogs” annual bike trip! Cant wait to see the Oregon coast!!!! Here are a few photos from our last trip together.
